Damaged Goods

Once the common ground carrier picks up your mailbox F.O.B. at our facility it becomes your property. The shipping company is then responsible for safe and proper delivery. Mailboxes of Distinction is not responsible for damage that may occur in transit by common ground carriers. Therefore, it is important that you carefully inspect your shipment for damage upon receipt.


  • When your mailbox arrives inspect the crate for damage. If you see damage, report it to the carrier immediately and note the damage on the delivery receipt. Do not refuse delivery.
  • Open the crate within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt. If your mail box is damaged, call your carrier immediately and report the damage. Do not remove the mailbox or discard the crate parts and packaging, as the the carrier will dispatch a representative to inspect the shipment.
  • After you have properly reported the damage please contact us. We will take immediate action to repair or replace your mailbox.
  • Important Note: If you fail to note visible damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt, it is likely that you have waived your rights to file a freight claim.
