How to Care for Your Mailbox

Follow these simple instructions and your Mailbox of Distinction will continue to look new for many years to come:

Painted Surfaces

Our painted finishes are automotive quality. Therefore, you should care for your painted finishes as you would care for your car finish. We recommend that you wash painted surfaces with a mild soap and water solution using a soft sponge, then rinse and dry. To prevent your finish from oxidizing, you may apply automobile polish or wax to the smooth painted surfaces.

Spray Textured Surfaces

Our custom textured surfaces are matte finishes and should not be polished. To remove roadside dirt, we recommend applying a mild soap and water solution without rubbing the finish, then rinse.

Should mildew form on a textured surface, treat the mildew with a mild, all-natural household mildew remover. In the event that the stain is persistent you can repaint the textured surface with exterior-grade paint. A roller and brush is acceptable for this application (Note: A properly-equipped professional painter can spray paint a new coating on location.)

Fine Metals

Some of our fine metals will have a clear lacquer applied to preserve its finish. We recommend that you use a soft cloth and a mild soap and water solution when cleaning these finishes. Rinse and dry.

Textured Claddings

Our claddings may be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution, then rinse and dry. We recommend that you do not use harsh chemicals on decorative cladding.
